The Get it Gals are an Austin-based, female-run business. Jess and Kati first put their heads together to create a trivia event for a mutual friend’s baby shower back in 2014. Soon after, with a little luck and a lot of friends, they formed the trivia group known as Get it Gals!

      DAVID MAKES MAN: Flashback Conversation

Q&A following the ATX Season 8 screening of the pilot of David Makes Man.

David Makes Man is a one-hour lyrical drama from Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight) that centers on a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relied on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. He must choose between the streets that raised him or the higher education that may offer him a way out. Set in South Florida, the lyrical drama, inspired by events in McCraney’s own life, explores the inherent trauma sustained in the fight for survival.

      I’LL BE GONE IN THE DARK

We’ll get a first look at I’ll Be Gone In the Dark, HBO’s six-part documentary series based on the book of the same name, exploring author Michelle McNamara’s investigation into the dark world of the violent predator she dubbed “The Golden State Killer.” Filmmakers Liz Garbus, Elizabeth Wolff, Myles Kane, and Josh Koury will participate in a conversation about constructing the series through a combination of McNamara’s own words, extensive archival footage and police files as well as exclusive new interviews with detectives, survivors and family members of the killer. I’ll Be Gone In the Dark premieres June 28th on HBO.

      OUTCRY

Showtime will return to ATX with a look at the upcoming sports docu-series, Outcry, which examines the gripping story of high school football star Greg Kelley and a quest for truth and justice in central Texas. The five-part series follows Kelley’s conviction for sexual assault of a four-year-old boy and sentence of 25 years in prison with no possibility for parole, and the subsequent groundswell of support that emerges, calling into question the investigation, the prosecution’s tactics and ultimately, the validity of the conviction. Emmy award-winning director and executive producer Pat Kondelis (Creative Director, Unscripted, Bat Bridge Entertainment), will join the festival for a conversation about the making of the series, and its significance to both a local Texas community and national conversations on justice reform.

      THE GOOD LORD BIRD

A sneak peek and conversation with new SHOWTIME series The Good Lord Bird.
