Comic books have been the subject of film and TV adaptations for decades, but the last 10-15 years have seen a boom in quantity and quality as more and more of these stories appear on the small screen, bringing iconic characters and shared universes to life. But how does a storyteller infuse their own voice into an often stylized and specific world, while still satisfying a pre-existing (and passionate) fan base? The writers and EPs of comic adaptations past, present, and future discuss the the unique challenges of adapting one highly visual format to another, and what makes TV such an appealing medium for exploring these fantastical series.
