ATX TV Festival invites you to revisit Great News with a special live script reading featuring original and guest cast!

From Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer Tracey Wigfield (30 Rock, Saved by the Bell), and executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock (30 Rock, The Mayor), Great News follows up-and-coming news producer Katie Wendelsohn (Briga Heelan), who finds herself dealing with a new intern: her mother, Carol (Andrea Martin).

Wigfield will be joined by original cast members Briga Heelan (Love, Cougar Town) and John Michael Higgins (Saved by the Bell, Pitch Perfect, A Mighty Wind), guest actor Jake Lacy (The White Lotus), and more surprise cast for a live script reading of a favorite episode, and a look back at this canceled-too-soon favorite.

Ahead of the series’ Fall premiere, Monarch Creator/Executive Producer Melissa London Hilfers, executive music producer Adam Anders (Glee, The Prom), and cast member and singer-songwriter Beth Ditto (On Becoming a God in Central Florida) will dive into the creative process of bringing the series’ original music to life.

QUEER FOR FEAR presented by SHUDDER

Shudder will present a first-look panel for the upcoming original docuseries Queer for Fear, which centers on the history of Queer people in the thriller/horror genre. From its literary origins with authors Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde to the pansy craze of the 1920s that inspired Universal Monsters and Hitchcock, through the “lavender scare” alien invasion films of the mid-20th century, and the AIDS-obsessed bloodletting of 80s vampire films, Queer For Fear explores the role the LGBTQ+ community played in front of and behind the camera.

New episodes of Somebody Feed Phil premiere May 25 on Netflix. The first episode of Naked Lunch will be available on Stitcher and all major podcast platforms on May 12. Somebody Feed Phil: The Book – available for pre-order now – will be released on October 18 via Simon & Schuster.

ATX TV Festival is proud to present our second annual “Breakthrough Award” to Euphoria and The White Lotus star Sydney Sweeney! The Breakthrough Award recognizes an individual whose creative voice has made a substantial and unique imprint on the current moment in TV, and whose work exemplifies the emotional, entertaining, and artistic possibilities of the medium.

Join Sweeney for a featured one-on-one conversation about her breakthrough performances on two separate HBO original series over the last year, her career thus far, and her creative goals for the future.

BARON AND TOLUCA

Premiere Screening of Baron and Toluca, an independent pilot from Roswell co-stars Majandra Delfino and Brendan Fehr, which was crowdfunded via IndieGogo and produced during the pandemic. Described as a “spiritual successor” to Roswell, the series follows exes Jake Baron (Fehr) and Toluca Mendez (Delfino), who find themselves reunited in a familiar part of New Mexico – much to the delight of one and the horror of the other. Forced together by unforeseen circumstances, they must remain there together, to try and unravel a paranormal mystery threatening to kill them both. That is, if they don’t kill each other first.

Following the premiere screening, Delfino and Fehr will be joined by fellow cast members for a conversation about reuniting for a new project, their experience producing an independent pilot, and their future plans for Baron and Toluca’s story.

The CW presents a screening and conversation for Tom Swift, the upcoming Nancy Drew spin-off from Co-Creators / Executive Producers Melinda Hsu Taylor, Noga Landau, and Cameron Johnson!

The series follows brilliant inventor Tom Swift (Tian Richards), whose world is shaken to its core after the shocking disappearance of his father, thrusting Tom into a breathtaking adventure full of mysterious conspiracies and unexplained phenomena.

The screening will feature an advance look at Episode 2, followed by a conversation with cast and creatives. Tom Swift premieres May 31 on The CW.
