AUSTIN, Texas – ATX Television Festival has announced major partnership and additional programming with HBO that continues a longtime relationship between the prestige network and the festival for its first-ever completely virtual festival, which will take place June 5-7, 2020. Register for the festival HERE.

“We can still remember getting HBO’s support for the first ever physical festival in 2012 (we may have cried). We were told then that they wanted to say in Year 10 that they were there from the beginning. We aren’t quite to our 10th Season, but as we completely pivot to virtual, HBO has stayed by our side. We’ll miss seeing them at the Paramount Theater on Opening Night, but we’re excited to have them heavily represented in ATX TV…from the Couch! We were blown away (but not surprised) by their support of us in every way including their phenomenal programming.” — Caitlin McFarland, Co Founder ATX TV Festival

“ATX has always been a unique destination, devoted to the celebration of television. Whether virtually or in Austin, we are delighted to continue our relationship.”– Casey Bloys, President, HBO Programming.

HBO’s programming for the virtual festival will include:

The previously announced marquee conversation for the new HBO drama series “Perry Mason” will serve as Opening Night of the virtual festival, streaming Friday, June 5th at 8pm CT. Confirmed panelists include creators/executive producers Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald, executive producer Susan Downey, executive producer/director Tim Van Patten, producer/star Matthew Rhys, and cast members Tatiana Maslany, John Lithgow, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, and Shea Whigham. “Perry Mason” premieres June 21st on HBO.

The festival will also feature a conversation with the creatives of “Room 104,” the anthology series from Mark and Jay Duplass, which returns to HBO on July 24th. The panel will include Mark Duplass, who serves as co-creator/EP/writer/director/star and songwriter/performer in the upcoming season, as well as EP/director Sydney Fleischmann, EP/writer/director Mel Eslyn, co-EP/composer/writer/director Julian Wass, director Karan Soni, and director Natalie Morales, who will discuss their various creative journeys throughout the series and collaboration on its fourth and final season.

HBO’s new half-hour series “I May Destroy You” will host a conversation with creator/executive producer/star Michaela Coel (“Chewing Gum”). Premiering June 7, the fearless, frank and provocative series explores the question of sexual consent in contemporary life and how, in the new landscape of dating and relationships, we make the distinction between liberation and exploitation.

Viewers will also get a first look at “I’ll Be Gone In the Dark,” the network’s six-part documentary series based on the book of the same name, exploring author Michelle McNamara’s investigation into the dark world of the violent predator she dubbed “The Golden State Killer.” Filmmakers Liz Garbus, Elizabeth Wolff, Myles Kane, and Josh Koury will participate in a conversation about constructing the series through a combination of McNamara’s own words, extensive archival footage and police files as well as exclusive new interviews with detectives, survivors and family members of the killer. “I’ll Be Gone In the Dark” premieres June 28th on HBO.

In addition, creator/showrunner/executive producer/actor Robin Thede (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”) will join “Showrunners: State of the Union,” a panel conversation with TV’s top showrunners about the current (and future) state of TV, production, and leadership within the industry. The panel will air live on Sunday, June 7th.

ABOUT ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL
ATX’s focus is the celebration of the television medium – looking back at its history, where it is now, and where it is headed. Our festival consists of events in which attendees can interact with actors, writers, directors, creators, showrunners, music supervisors, casting directors and studio executives involved in all stages of bringing their favorite shows to the small screen. We have all the functionality of a traditional film festival – spotlighting classic shows, never-aired pilots, cancelled too soon series, cult favorites, current hits and premieres of new series. In addition, we feature episodic screenings and Q&As with series cast and creators, topical panel discussions, parties, live music, meet-ups, social media events and “super-secret happy hours.” ATX’s goal is to serve both fans and industry professionals equally, by giving them the opportunity to discuss and celebrate all aspects of TV as one community.

ATX’s podcast The TV Campfire features one-on-one conversations with some of TV’s top creatives, and panel conversations recorded live at the festival. All episodes can be found on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and at atvxp.com/podcasts.
