ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL AND HBO PRESENTFIRST EVER ATX CLOSING NIGHT SCREENING AND AFTER PARTY

ATX Television Festival Takes Place June 6-9 Austin, TX- Tuesday, May 14, 2013 – ATX Television Festival, the first festival devoted to television’s history and future, is honored to have HBO return for a second year as a festival sponsor, and grow their relationship with the premiere of the HBO original documentary, LOVE, MARILYN for the festival’s first ever Closing Night screening and after party.

Coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death, LOVE, MARILYN features remarkable footage and audiotapes along with Marilyn’s own handwritten letters, diaries, notes, poems, journals and notebooks, which document her private life against the backdrop of her very public life and loves. Written, directed & produced by Liz Garbus, the film also includes readings and appearances by F. Murray Abraham, Elizabeth Banks, Adrien Brody, Ellen Burstyn, Glenn Close, Hope Davis, Viola Davis, Jennifer Ehle, Ben Foster, Paul Giamatti, Jack Huston, Stephen Lang, Lindsey Lohan, Janet McTeer, Jeremy Piven, Oliver Platt, David Strathairn, Lili Taylor, Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. Interviews and archival footage features Arthur Miller, Joe DiMaggio, Amy Greene, Molly Haskell, Truman Capote, Norman Mailer and Elia Kazan among many others.

“This film was an incredible journey and I’m so happy to be continuing it with my HBO family who have embraced the film in an extraordinary way,” said Garbus. “HBO has set the standard for original programming whether it be episodic, long form, or documentary. We are thrilled to not only grow in our programming to include a documentary premiere, but also build on our relationship with HBO as a festival supporter,” said ATX Television Festival Co-founders Emily Gipson and Caitlin McFarland. The closing night celebration will feature a screening of the HBO Documentary Film LOVE, MARILYN, followed by a Q&A with writer, director and producer Liz Garbus. Immediately following the Q&A, HBO will host a special closing night celebration at the Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental Hotel.

Reservations for Closing Night will be available to ATX Television Festival badge holders (all levels) when the full festival schedule is released. Venue is subject to capacity.ATX Television Festival DAY WRISTBANDS will go on sale on Friday, May 17th at 9am CST.

Attendees can gain access to the festival (both screenings and panels) for either Friday,Saturday, OR Sunday at $75/day. Each day pass holder will be granted (1) reservation using the online guide and reservation system through their ticketing company, Prekindle.

ATX Television Festival is now accepting press credential applications.
