Austin, TX – ATX TV Festival announced today additional programming for its 11th Season, which will take place June 2-5, 2022, in Austin, TX. The festival will feature the world premiere screening of Lifetime’s limited series “Flowers in the Attic: The Origin,” which will then be followed by a panel conversation with the series creators and cast, leading into a hosted brunch for festival attendees. The panel conversation will feature executive producers Paul Sciarrotta and Jennie Snyder Urman, and cast members Jemima Rooper, Kelsey Grammer, Alana Boden, and Hannah Dodd, with more to be announced.
Lifetime’s “Flowers in the Attic: The Origin,” is based on Andrew Neiderman’s novel Garden of Shadows, the prequel to V.C. Andrews’ Flowers in the Attic series. The series tells the story of the headstrong and determined Olivia Winfield (Jemima Rooper), her relationship with one of the nation’s most eligible bachelors, Malcolm Foxworth (Max Irons), and her desperate attempts to keep her family safe, leading to her inevitable—and notorious—decision to lock her grandchildren in the attic.
Also announced, this year’s line-up will include a special live episode of the “Friday Night Lights” rewatch podcast “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts,” hosted by co-stars and friends Derek Phillips (Billy Riggins) and Stacey Oristano (Mindy Collette-Riggins). The live recording will feature special guests from “Friday Night Lights” (to be announced shortly), stories from behind the scenes, and a question and answer segment with the festival audience. “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts” is produced by Cadence13 and can be found wherever podcasts are available. New episodes are released on Tuesdays.
As the Festival begins to roll out its season 11 festival programming, these announcements follow previously announced screenings and panels from Peacock. The festival will open with a Season 2 Screening of Peacock’s original comedy “Rutherford Falls,” followed by a panel conversation with co-creator/showrunner/writer/executive producer Sierra Teller Ornelas, co-creator/executive producer/star Ed Helms, writer/star Jana Schmieding, and cast members Michael Greyeyes, Jesse Leigh and Dustin Milligan. In Season 2 of Peacock’s hit-comedy “Rutherford Falls,” life-long best buds Nathan Rutherford (Ed Helms) and Reagan Wells (Jana Schmieding) help each other tackle work, romance, and major changes to their small town and the Native American reservation it borders, initiated by Tribal Casino C.E.O. Terry Thomas (Michael Greyeyes). From Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment and Pacific Electric Picture Company, “Rutherford Falls” is executive produced by Sierra Teller Ornelas, Michael Schur, Ed Helms, Mike Falbo, David Miner and Morgan Sackett. “Rutherford Falls” Season 2 is coming soon and Season 1 is available to stream now only on Peacock.
Also joining the festival is the network’s highly anticipated wrapped-in-pink limited series “Angelyne” about the glow-in-the-dark queen of the universe and LA’s original billboard icon from the 80’s starring Emmy Rossum.
Showrunner/Executive Producer Allison Miller and Executive Producer/Star Emmy Rossum will discuss their collaboration in bringing the story of the Los Angeles icon and “self-proclaimed Rorschach test” Angelyne to life, how the series has shaped or changed their own perception of fame and identity, and the future of TV storytelling as shaped by women. All five episodes of “Angelyne” premiere May 19 on Peacock.
Previously announced programming includes a reunion for “Scrubs” with cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Neil Flynn and Christa Miller in attendance. Additionally, the festival will feature “Parenthood” and “Justified,” panels all of which were postponed from the 2020 festival.
