Austin, TX – ATX TV Festival has announced additional programming for Season 13, taking place May 30-June 2, 2024, in Austin, Texas.
Devery Jacobs (Echo, Reservation Dogs) will receive the Festival’s annual Breakthrough Award, which recognizes an individual whose creative voice has made a substantial and unique impact on the current moment in TV, and whose work exemplifies the emotional, entertaining, and artistic possibilities of the medium.
Jacobs will discuss her career in a one-on-one conversation, including her multi-hyphenate role as actor, writer and director on FX’s critically acclaimed series Reservation Dogs, her recent role in Marvel Studios’ Echo, and her producorial debut feature film, Backspot, in which she also stars. Previous recipients of the festival’s “Breakthrough Award” include Angelica Ross (Pose) and Sydney Sweeney (The White Lotus, Euphoria).
The Festival’s Season 13 line-up will also include:
“Talk Scary (TV) to Me: A Conversation with Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel – A conversation with collaborators, spouses, and Horror connoisseurs Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) about their pop culture Venn diagram, the current state (and future) of Horror TV, and their creative journeys — both individually and together.
“The Monologue Case Study with Mike Flanagan” – Showrunner, writer, and director Mike Flanagan will also join for a one-of-a-kind inside look at the process of writing and directing some of the most memorable monologues from The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House, and more.
“Fright or Flight: Close Up on Horror Acting with Kate Siegel” – From final girls, to scream queens, to femme fatales, the role of women in Horror has a complex history — yet so many of the genre’s most iconic performances and characters are shaped by women. This conversation with actress Kate Siegel (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) will explore horror acting from the female perspective, the unique hallmarks that define a great horror performance, and the art of subverting expectations within the genre.
“Trial By Content (Live!)” – The colosseum of contentious opinion makes its way to Austin for a live, TV-themed episode of The Ringer’s original podcast Trial By Content with hosts and pop culture authorities Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales, and Neil Miller.
“Casting Discoveries: First Gigs and Big Breaks” – Casting directors and actors from breakout hits The Bear and Reservation Dogs will join for an inside look at the collaborative process of shaping the perfect ensemble, from seeking out new and undiscovered talent, to striking the delicate balance between script, performer, and character — and why the performer you aren’t expecting might just be the perfect one for the role. Confirmed panelists include Reservation Dogs casting director Angelique Midthunder and casting associate Stacey Rice, and casting director Jeanie Bacharach (The Bear).
