CLOSING NIGHT EVENT: Norman Lear's TV for the People: Script Reading & Conversation

Description

ATX TV Festival invites you to a night of comedy, conversation, and celebration honoring the life and legacy of legendary writer, producer, and activist Norman Lear.

The event will feature live script readings of classic episodes from Maude and Good Times with guest actors stepping into these iconic roles, followed by a conversation with Lear’s collaborators, friends, and fellow creatives. Join us as we revisit the shows that helped redefine the American sitcom, and Lear’s bold commitment to produce TV that reflected and commented on the everyday American experience by inviting audiences to engage with conversations about racism, abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, sexual assault, and more – and how that legacy continues to shape the medium through the next generation of storytellers.

This event is presented with support from Hollywood, Health & Society.
